From what I can tell, the hotel where we are staying, the Soaltee Crown Plaza, appears to be an small oasis in the middle of Kathmandu...manicured grass and beautiful flowers...you leave the compound though and mayhem is waiting...it certainly keeps you awake...it reminds me in the early days when I used to go to India for work...but here, it appears there's just more action that what I remember in India...7 million people live in Kathmandu...so a lot of hustling and bustling...the motorcycles are always trying to find a way around the cars and the cars are simply trying to find a way around something...tonight, I see butter chicken ahead in my future...
We did not have anything planned for today, so we rented a car, with its driver of course, and headed to the Thamel neighbourhood, a shopping area for tourists, backpackers and trekkers...there are a few stores in that area that specialize in mountain expeditions, like North Face, Mountain HardWear and Marmot...the rest of the stores are for tourists...it is quite a busy area...for me, the trip there and back was a real hoot...tomorrow if everything goes well, we will be doing a fly by of Mount Everest...keeping my fingers crossed...
De ce que je peux voir, l'hôtel où nous restons, le Soaltee Crown Plaza, semble être une petite oasis au milieu de Kathmandu...superbe terrassement et des fleurs partout...quitter la propriété et c'est le chaos total...ça vous garde certainement réveillé...ça me rappele les premières fois lorsque j'allais en Inde pour le travail...mais ici on dirait qu'il y a pas plus d'action de ce que je me rapelle de mes séjours en Inde...7 millions de personnes vivent présentement à Kathmandu...ça n'en fait de l'activité...les motos essayent toujours de trouver une voie autour des voitures et les voitures essayent simplement de trouver une voie autour de quelque chose...
Nous n'avions rien de planifier pour aujourd'hui, donc nous avons loué une voiture, avec son conducteur bien sûr et nous nous sommes rendu dans le cartier de Thamel, une zone commerciale pour des touristes, des randonneurs et trekkers...il y a quelques magasins dans ce quartier qui se spécialisent dans des expéditions de montagne, comme North Face, Mountain HardWear et Marmot...mais la plupart des commerces visent le touriste avec des gugus...ça bouge à Thamel...pour moi, le fun était l'aller et le retour...c'est là que l'action se passait...demain si tout va, nous irons faire le tour du Mont Everest en avion...je garde mes doigts croisés...
