We landed in Bhutan yesterday and made our way from Paro, where the airport is, to Thimphu, the capital city of Bhutan, which sits at about 7700 feet...now, we had a little problem after landing in Paro...the Sherpa forgot her iPad on the plane...good thing a couple of ladies found it and reached out to the Sherpa at the airport...the Sherpa was feeling was feeling guilty today and I did take advantage of it, somewhat...I'm sue I'm paying too much for that Sherpa on Wings package...
We started the day with a visit to a museum which illustrated how a typical house in Bhutan, in the past, was laid out...that was interesting...then after a visit to the National Archives, we visited an art school...students registered at that school spend 6 years perfecting their skills...after lunch we visited a paper factory...later in the afternoon we headed out to see what is supposed to be the largest Buddha in the world...don't know if it's the largest but it was pretty big...

Tonight we went out for dinner at The Zone in Thimphu...it's a restaurant that caters to expat...had a good time...tomorrow we leave for Paro and Saturday we head out to the Tiger's Nest...I learned today that I have a 90-minute ride on a horse to get there...as Alanis would say: isn't it ironic?
Nous avons atterri au Bhoutan hier et avons fait notre petit chemin de Paro, où l'aéroport est, à Thimphu, la capitale du Bhoutan...à environ 7,700 pieds d'altitude, Thimpu est assis dans une vallée entourée de montagnes...nous avons un petit problème après l'atterrissage dans Paro...le Sherpa a oublié son iPad sur l'avion...une dame qui était sur l'avion a récupéré le iPad et nous a averti.. le Sherpa se sentait se sentait coupable aujourd'hui et j'en ai profité quelque peu...je suis sûr que je paie trop cher pour le forfait Sherpa on Wings...
Nous avons commencé la journée avec une visite à un musée qui a illustré comment une maison typique au Bhoutan, ressemblait il y a plusieurs années...c'était vraiment intéressant...nous avons suivi avec une visite aux Archives nationales puis nous avons visité une école d'art...les étudiants enregistrés à cette école passent 6 ans à perfectionner leurs compétences...après le déjeuner nous avons visité une petite manufacture de papier...plus tard en après-midi nous avons gravit la montagne pour aller voir ce que l'on suppose être le plus gros Bouddha au monde...je ne sais pas s'il est le plus gros mais y'é gros en tipepère...
Ce soir nous sommes sortis pour souper au The Zone à Thimphu...c'est un restaurant qui dessert les expat...on s'est bien amusé...demain nous partons pour Paro et samedi nous irons au Tiger's Nest...j'ai appris aujourd'hui que j'ai une randonnée de 90 minutes en un cheval pour m'y rendre...comme dirait Alanis: n'est-ce pas ironique,..
